Christian service through Outreach is a vital part of life at St. John’s . We strive to provide opportunities for everyone in our congregation…people of all ages, interests, skills, and availability… to engage in Christian service. Below are just a few of these opportunities:
OGDOS (One Great Day Of Service) – One Saturday every spring, our members (adults, youth, and children) can participate in a wide range of Christian service activities. Some teams help out at other organizations like Kensington Area Ministries, Interfaith Housing, and Women’s Place Doylestown. Others volunteer to prepare meals for Kid’s Café. Some of our members choose to help families in the community needing assistance with minor repairs around the house. Members can also help out with landscaping and other projects around the Church.
Community Ministry – Provide help to the community through “hands on” assistance to qualifying families and through helping local organizations (e.g., local soup kitchens).
Congregational Connections – Helping out in local UMC affiliated churches like Rolling Hills and Eastwick.
Organizational Grants and Fundraising.Material Assistance Ministry (MAM) - Collecting items for appropriate agencies (e.g., aluminum tabs, eyeglasses, and cell phones).
Mission Trips Ministry – Organizing mission trips to locations outside Pennsylvania.
Red Bird Projects Ministry - Craft sale and other projects to support Red Bird Missions in Beverly, Kentucky.
Trailer Ministry – St. John's UMC provides a collection point for material donations and distributes those to other organizations (e.g., Red Bird Missions in Beverly, Kentucky). Beside volunteers for loading and packing trailers, we provide opportunities for drivers with CDLs.These are just a few of the service opportunities we have at St. John's. And we’re always open to ideas for new ministries. If something listed interests you, or you have other ideas for new Outreach Ministry areas, come join us… we’d love to meet you!
